Jorge Dutor / Guillem Mont de Palol

Names, song titles, tunes and many other elements of pop culture become the raw material for a sort of choreography with which the authors invite us to establish the wildest associations.

How can we become microphones to amplify our discourse? How can we empower pop culture in order to suggest rhythms, dynamics, feelings and affections with the potential to open the audience’s eyes and ears? What does being pop or popular mean? The two creators and performers of this piece ask themselves these questions, a choreography made with the names of artists and the titles of the songs we listen to every day on the radio and the television and which, in the mouths of Jorge Dutor and Guillem Mont de Palol, evoke strange deviant mindscapes and awaken the wildest memories. They do this while they play their special game, consisting of recomposing and changing song titles and lyrics or simply playing with singers’ names, ranging from Whitney Houston to Alejandro Sanz, via Iggy Pop or Chenoa.

This is the unusual new adventure of two artists who have been working together since 2008 and who are especially interested in language, the voice and its physicality, the body, musicality and rhythm.
