Returning to the Barcelona stage, Marina Rossell presents the second volume of her personal homage to Georges Moustaki, the composer of such fine songs as Le métèque and Ma liberté.
Volume One of Marina Rossell canta Moustaki, a selection of the most outstanding compositions penned by the singer-songwriter of Greek origin, brought to life by the exceptional voice of the Catalan artist, was a resounding success. According to the Anuari de la Music yearbook, it was the biggest-selling album in Catalan in 2013, shifting more than 30,000 copies, whilst over 15,000 fans flocked to see Rossell perform the songs live. Now, little more than a year after Moustaki’s death and what would have been his eightieth birthday, Marina Rossell continues the project launched with that first album and presents a second volume. The new release would have satisfied one of Moustaki’s most intimate wishes: to hear his great friend sing songs from his repertoire that he himself chose.
Marina Rossell will also perform Absents, a self-penned song devoted to Moustaki that also features on the new album. Those lucky enough to attend this homage are, without doubt, in for a summer evening packed with feeling and emotion at which Rossell will be joined on stage by other outstanding artists to make this a unique concert, a true one-off show. Moustaki's daughter, the singer Pia Moustaki, and many other guests from different generations, styles and sensitivities (David Carabén, Nilda Fernández, Alessio Arema, Bikimel...) will also pay homage to the master.
