Myles Sanko

  • Música

A leading exponent of the style that has become known as Euro Soul returns to Barcelona to perform tracks from his new album. Vintage beats have never sounded to new, so fresh.

They call him “The Lovechild of Soul Music”, and no wonder, because just one full-length album, Forever Dreaming, was enough to turn this musician, born in Ghana of a French father and Ghanaian mother and now resident in Great Britain, into an indisputable star in the world of modern soul music. Myles Sanko’s career began in hip hop, as a rapper at nightclubs and discos. This was where he discovered soul music, thanks to fellow performers who played seventies music by such masters as James Brown. A few years later, a new soulman appeared on the scene with a debut EP, Born in Black & White. However, it was the album that Sanko released in 2015 that took him to the very heights of fame. Forever Dreaming contains a collection of great tunes, magnificently performed, songs could have been recorded forty years ago but which sound fresh, contemporary, largely thanks to Sanko’s voice. The album, which fuses tunes reminiscent of the legendary Motown sound, acid jazz and great dance rhythms and was produced through crowdfunding, has seen Myles Sanko crowned as the king of British and European soul.
