Nit de tango: Homenatge a Astor Piazzolla

  • Música

Shall we dance a tango? If you need an excuse to do so, here's a great one: to pay homage to a musician who made his mark on the history of this genre on the 20th anniversary of his death.

With music, singing and dance. That is how the Grec pays tribute to Astor Piazzolla, the bandoneon player and composer who renewed the tango and coaxed it into dialogue with other rhythms. The music will be provided by Juan José Mosalini, a great contemporary master of Argentinian popular music who played bandoneon in Piazzolla’s band and has introduced tango music to a range of classical musicians and performers. Mosalini is passionate about a genre that has given us many great soundtracks and has even linked up with literature: Julio Cortázar wrote and recited a prologue for one of his albums. Tonight, Mosalini will be accompanied on stage by a large tango orchestra and one of the finest voices around today, that of Sandra Rumolino. The dancing will be provided by some of the most outstanding couples of the moment, including the world tango champions, from Buenos Aires.
