Companyia de Circ “eia”

A company created twelve years ago that focuses on human relationships through the language of circus is now dedicating its most recent show to couple relationships and the comings and goings between self and others, in a constant search to feel complete

Waking up in a lonely place after isolation;  we feel we are missing something. We begin to search from the inside, to complete ourselves again: seeking between our light and our shadows, amidst our contradictions that strangely seem to be complementary; surrealism/rationality, certainty/poetry...  Then suddenly, when the outside world collides with our inner universe, we realize even more clearly the need to seek and connect with the other, with other people; to be able to touch them, shake hands, share a hug, be together... Like half words that join to make whole words, and words that unite to create a phrase. Because sometimes we feel that we are made up of many halves. Balance, trust, duality, separation, conflicts ... These are concepts that appear in our circus and choreographic proposal for six acrobats that reflects the comings and goings between self and others, in a constant search to feel complete.

NUYE is a creation process for six acrobats which starts from the exploration of the dynamics of couple/duo/partner relationships. Society has recently included a deep and open vision of couples, which can take multiple forms: man and woman, two women, two men, people who do not necessarily belong to one of these genders… As acrobats, couple/duo dynamics are a part of our everyday life. We are always in contact with the other person, we communicate very deeply in a non-verbal way… We are constantly navigating the emotions and the physical state of our partner. We think that artistic work is a mirror of society, and the current rapidly shifting realities have in turn affected our creation process. In these times of imposed isolation, we have become more introspective, and soul-seeking, realising that contact with the other has become more valuable than ever. These comings and goings between self and the others, in a constant search to feel complete, is the axis of this circus and choreographic proposal. Everything takes place on a stage, occupied by a carefully crafted wall that comes to life - with its doors, hinges, openings and diving board- which like us, reveals many faces.

This is the new production from a company founded in 2009 and whose name means “yes” in Sardinian and is also an acronym of "élans imprévus accordés" (agreed improvised impulses in French), whichever you prefer, bringing together artists from various companies. Together, they have created four shows (CAPASinTarsiEsperaLa Pranza!) and they have now become a benchmark in Catalonia and in Spain for contemporary circus that places human beings at the centre of their creations.
