Andreu Gomila / Josep Pedrals / Martí Sales

Perhaps the pandemic has left you without references or answers. And you may feel that you are alone... We don't have a remedy for your ills, but we do have a few minutes of poetry that will ease your suffering. Make an appointment and call the poet on duty.

Percy Bysshe Shelley, the Romantic poet and writer, said that poets are “the legislators of the future” and that they have the answers that people need when they are going through difficult times. We have recently had to deal with an unprecedented crisis, and our heads have been full of all kinds of thoughts and questions. Perhaps a poet has the answer, or at least a possible answer. During the lockdown, the poets Andreu Gomila, Josep Pedrals and Martí Sales decided to make a video every day featuring a variety of collaborators reciting poetry, which they then posted on Twitter (@poetadguardia). Now, in cooperation with the poet Maria Cabrera, they are repeating the experience on the phone, this time with the collaboration of professionals such as Sílvia Bel, Lluís Soler, Anna Alarcón, Iván Morales and Alba Pujol. Make an appointment and you will have ten minutes to listen to a poem and then chat about the verses you have heard with the person who recited them. Only calls with a prior appointment will be accepted, for a maximum of ten minutes, i.e. a maximum of six calls an hour.
The experience began during the lockdown in Paris, at the Théâtre de la Ville, where they asked all the actors and actresses to recite poems for spectators who bought a ticket and booked a time.
