Y los huesos hablaron

Shall we exhume a word? That is what the members of these two companies propose as they revive a key concept from the investigation process that was El desenterrador (The Disinterrer), a theatre experience that researched into the so-called “bodyology” of words, that is to say, their capacity to generate an ethical world, a political system and a particular social order as they describe (and even create) reality. Words and the physical responses to them, enacted by the body, provide the basis for this show, which focuses on acts of violence that form part of the history and present both of our country and of Mexico. A series of workshops, open to the public, organised some months ago, were the first step towards creating the show. The piece now comes to the Grec to disinter and cast light on conflicts that have been buried historically beneath an official discourse supposedly aimed at fostering political and social stability. The show speaks of violence and disappearances, it is true, but it also focuses particularly on how these have been made invisible, swept under the carpet and obscured by false, biased narratives of bloody events.
