Barcelona’s children have got a message
Children were unable to leave the house, go to school or get down to the park during lockdown. Yet they’ve done lots of things and experienced lots of emotions and feelings, explaining them on the ‘Estimat diari’ website through drawings, texts and videos.The ‘Estimat diari’ website was set up on 30 March and has since received input from a thousand children and nearly 25,000 site visits. The youngsters explained how they felt, reflected their daily activities and sent support to healthcare workers.
The content published on ‘Estimat diari’ is very valuable as children’s perspectives are essential for understanding how the city experienced the pandemic. Because of this, the Municipal Archive is keeping the works for research purposes and they will be used as teaching material for working on emotions in schools. They will also feature in a travelling exhibition during the next school year.
The Mayor responds to children
Children have also been able to put all their doubts and queries to the Mayor as they came up. There are more than 160 answered questions on video on YouTube and IGTV, with the full explanations that children deserve.
