On September 15, was held an evaluation and exchange session about the learning and progress of the Time Organization Mentoring Program’s 2nd edition. Mentor and mentoree companies participated to share experiences and progress throughout the program.

In this 2nd edition of the Time Organization Mentoring Program that began in October, 6 mentor companies Aigües de Barcelona, Softmachine, TBS, Unió de Mútues, MCSS núm. 267, Fundació Joia and Hospital Plató) and 6 mentoree companies (Fundació Germina, Col·legi Oficial de Psicologia de Catalunya, Casal dels Infants per l’Acció Social als Barris, Abacus, Agència per la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya and Accent Social). While the mentor companies are expert organizations of the NUST Network (New Social Uses of Time), the call for mentoree is open to organizations from the city of Barcelona.

The results of the mentoring were presented at this last joint virtual meeting on September 15, 2020, with a very positive assessment made by both the mentor and mentoree companies, also detecting possible aspects of improvement.

The meeting was welcomed by Sonia Ruiz, Director of Gender Services and Time Policies of the Barcelona City Council, who thanked the companies for their participation and dedication to the program, especially in the case of the mentors and highlighted the efforts made during the months of confinement, where mentoring sessions went virtual but were carried out successfully; and Emilia Pallàs, Executive Director of Proximity Socioeconomic Development of Barcelona Activa, who recalled that Barcelona Activa promoted the mentoring program to give relevance to the role of companies in improving the use of time, conciliation and joint responsibility. He also stressed the importance of changes in work modalities taking place in favor of gender equality.

Then, Guadalupe Martín, Personnel Administration and Labor Relations Manager at the Oxfam Intermón Foundation, mentoree during the 1st edition of the program, presented her experience as a mentoree and her reality one year after the end of the program.

Then, Guadalupe Martín, Personnel Administration and Labor Relations Manager at the Oxfam Intermón Foundation, a company mentorees during the 1st edition of the program, presented her experience as a mentee and her reality one year after the end of the program.

She assured that a year later the fruits of the mentoring program are still better shown. In the case of the foundation, the sessions with the mentors served to review the current Equality Plan and expand the measures that would allow an improvement in work-life balance and co-responsibility. They have implemented some of the measures proposed as a result of the program, as well as others that were not contemplated and that they have had to implement to adapt as a result of the pandemic and the confinement situation, to the reality of working people. Finally, she gave a few words of thanks for the work done by the mentor companies and recommended participation in the program.

Then, Elisa Stinus and Júlia Altés, from the Technical Secretariat of the NUST Network, made a presentation of the results of this 2nd edition of the program:

Regarding the learning and evaluations carried out by the mentorees throughout the program, the companies highly value the transparency and involvement of the mentor companies as key elements of the program. A climate of great trust has been created between mentorees and mentors and this has allowed questions to be raised that would not have been raised in another context. They have greatly appreciated the adaptation of the mentor companies to the new situation generated by the health crisis, facilitating the continuation of the program with virtual sessions instead of face-to-face.

In addition, the mentor companies have all agreed that the program is also for them a space for learning and shared knowledge. The mentoring program allows them to spend time thinking, sharing and planning plans and improvements that otherwise have no place in daily tasks and dynamics.

The session also featured a space for exchange between all the people participating in the program, where the various companies shared their experiences as mentors and mentorees. They highlight the environment of trust in which they work and the links that are created between companies; mutual learning, multidisciplinary exchange and being able to know other realities that allow us to continue advancing in the improvement of the uses of time from the workplace.

Finally, Carme Carrera, Time Program Technician, closed the session by recalling that the success of this 2nd edition also serves as an engine to continue working in the same line for the next edition.
