The agricultural past of the neighbourhood of Sant Andreu de Palomar is more than apparent in the Tres Tombs procession. This is the first of two such parades in the city and features the City Police Mounted Unit, a band, horses and riders and all sorts of carriages: barouches, berlins, tartanas, phaetons, breaks, race carts, muleteer carts and more.

When the procession reaches Pg. Fabra i Puig it does three laps between Gran de Sant Andreu and C/ Concepció Arenal. The route includes spaces in Fabra i Puig for people with disabilities (next to C/ Neopàtria) and in Pg. Torras i Bages (next to C/ Santa Marta).

For the third year running there’s a parallel activity to enjoy with Urban Sketchers Barcelona, whose drawings will show the preparation of the festival from inside the Fabra i Coats site. This year sees the festival society for Sant Antoni Abat de Sant Andreu de Palomar marking their centenary and organising a series of different events throughout the year.

Times:

  • 10 am – Gathering by Urban Sketchers Barcelona
  • 11.45 am – Start point in C/ Segre
  • 12 noon – Blessing of carriages
  • 12.15 pm – Blessing of pets

Tres Tombs Infernals

There are many versions of the legend of Sant Antoni. One of the most original is the one represented by the fire group Satànica de Sant Andreu and known as the Tres Tombs Infernals. Combining legend, fireworks and a triple fire run, the group has offered its version of events for more than thirty years, explaining how Satan tempted Sant Antoni with the earthly pleasures of power, drink and sex. Although they tell the same story, the display changes the way the legend is staged every year, surprising spectators.

This activity takes place in Pl. Can Fabra on Saturday, 13 January, at 8.30 pm.
