If you have a business in Barcelona and are thinking of growing, undertaking works or hiring new staff, you’re in luck. You still have time to apply for two subsidies that are particularly relevant to the city’s commercial fabric.

Crea Feina 2025: €2M to generate quality employment

Until 19 September 2025

With a view to promoting permanent and stable recruitment, the 2025 Crea Feina programme is offering total of €2 million in grants to companies. Businesses that have hired staff on an indefinite basis between 1 January and 19 September 2025 can apply.

The programme includes three lines of action:

• Crea Feina Inclusiva: for people in situations of long-term unemployment or vulnerability.
• Crea Feina Investiga: to recruit scientific or research talent.
• Crea Feina Economia Social i d’Impacte: aimed at projects with social and environmental values, closely linked to local commerce.

Grants of up to €15,000 are available per contract, depending on the profile hired and the line in question. In addition, there has been an increase in subsidies available for hiring women and people registered as living in Barcelona or the Metropolitan Area.

2. Grants for works at commercial and emblematic establishments

Until 17 November 2025

Do you want to improve the façade or renovate your establishment? The Municipal Institute of Urban Landscape and Quality of Life has launched a new call to promote the quality of the urban landscape and protect historic commerce.

The grants are aimed at:

• Commercial establishments measuring less than 500 m² that carry out improvement or adaptation works.
• Protected or unprotected historical premises, to promote their conservation and enhancement.

This line aims to reinforce the image of a well-kept, sustainable city committed to its heritage, with small businesses as the protagonist.
