Extra buses on the V19 service reduce the build-up of passengers

The addition of more buses operating this service has improved frequency and redistributed passengers, with passenger volumes also up since the number of vehicles was increased. The measure comes in addition to the Barcelona City Council strategy to reduce the externalities of tourism, particularly around Park Güell.

The extra capacity in the sections with the highest demand, which includes up to eight more buses on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, began on 12 April. Since then, situations of passenger build-ups, with alerts indicating when the bus is at maximum capacity, have dropped by 40%. The drop comes despite a 25% increase in ticket validations.

The increase in V19 buses has been implemented in two sections, one on the southern side and the other on the northern side, and is part of the plan to improve coexistence in the busiest areas for tourism.
