Electronic devices to be distributed to help vulnerable students access online education
Over the coming days the Barcelona Education Consortium is to distribute 5,300 devices with internet connectivity to students in the most vulnerable situations. The goal is to mitigate the inequalities caused by the digital divide and enable these students to access online education during the third school term. The consortium has acquired 3,000 tablets with SIM cards, which come in addition to the 2,267 devices with connectivity which belong to city schools and which have been lent by the Ministry of Education.
The devices will be distributed according to the circumstances of each school, with priority being given to children in their sixth year of primary school or first year of secondary school, within the framework of the plan to combat school segregation.
At the same time, work is also in progress to collect other batches of tablets from private owners and initiatives and make them available to students in Barcelona.
