From 15 May on, establishments located in the High Influx of Tourists Zone (ZGAT) will be permitted to open on Sundays and public holidays.
Establishments located in the High Influx of Tourists Zone may also open on Sundays and public holidays from 12 noon to 8 pm until 15 September 2025.
Commercial establishments included in the High Influx of Tourists Zone (ZGAT) will be able to open their doors on Sundays between 15 May and 15 September, as well as on public holidays. They will be able to do so from 12 noon to 8 pm, as set out in the agreement to broaden the area included in the ZGAT in Barcelona, as well as the opening times. The approval of the agreement was also accompanied by ’a social agreement.
The regulation covers shops that fall within zones 1 and 2 of the Special Urban Plan for Tourist Accommodation (PEUAT), which includes the following neighbourhoods:
- Ciutat Vella: El Raval, El Gòtic, Sant Pere, Santa Caterina i La Ribera and La Barceloneta.
- Eixample: Nova Esquerra de l’Eixample, Antiga Esquerra de l’Eixample, Dreta de l’Eixample, Sagrada Família, Fort Pienc and Sant Antoni.
- Sants-Montjuïc: Sants, Hostafrancs, and part of the neighbourhoods of Poble Sec and Font de la Guatlla.
- Les Corts: Les Corts.
- Sarrià-Sant Gervasi: Sant Gervasi-Galvany and part of the neighbourhood of El Putxet i el Farró.
- Gràcia: Vila de Gràcia, La Salut, Camp d’en Grassot, Gràcia Nova and part of Vallcarca i els Penitents.
- Horta-Guinardó: Baix Guinardó.
- Sant Martí: the Olympic Village of Poblenou, El Poblenou, Parc i la Llacuna del Poblenou, and Diagonal Mar i el Front Marítim del Poblenou.

This new regulation is the result of the agreement reached in February 2022 between the Barcelona Commerce Foundation, Barcelona Abierta, PIMEC Comerç, Foment del Treball, the National Association of Large Distribution Companies (ANGED), the UGT and CCOO, having obtained the go-ahead from Barcelona City Council, and with the approval of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
