Notable activities in this edition of Viu Montjuïc, which also joins in to mark the 25th anniversary of the Jardí Botànic de Barcelona, include the performances for Montjuïc Dansat and 7tobreak on the stage next to the MNAC, the dramatised reading of Baixant de la Font del Gat by Casa de la Premsa and the Biblioteca Poble-sec – Francesc Boix, the culture and nature-based routes around numerous points of interest in the park, the Petit Festival that the Museu d’Arqueologia de Catalunya has designed for children and the Fontades Comunitàries: the marathon of activities and concerts for all the family, on this occasion organised by the Taula de Cultura Comunitària del Poble-sec in the Jardins de Joan Brossa.

This year in its fourth edition, Viu Montjuïc came about through the desire for coordination among different cultural stakeholders in Montjuïc. The initiative is jointly organised by the same facilities, the District of Sants-Montjuïc, the Barcelona Institute of Culture, the Barcelona Tourism Consortium and the Fourth Deputy Mayor’s Office at Barcelona City Council (Economy, Tax, Economic Promotion and Tourism). The event is funded through the tourist tax, which promotes initiatives to improve leisure and the enjoyment of quality green space and culture, aimed specifically at local people in Barcelona.

Broadly backed project, with more organisations every year

Every edition of Viu Montjuïc sees more organisations and facilities join the organisers promoting the festival. In this fourth edition there are more than 70 institutions, organisations groups and association staking part, offering all sorts of activities and cultural options, from iconic museums in the park to organisations in adjacent neighbourhoods, such as the Comunitària del Poble-sec, the Eix de Cultura i Memòria de la Marina and the Centre Superior de Música Jam Session from the Font de la Guatlla neighbourhood.
