New agreement to combat gender violence
The Barcelona Circuit against Gender Violence institutional board has presented a new agreement broadening coordination between the various institutions involved in the fight against gender violence. The agreement includes a new psycho-social care protocol to improve support for women and minors who suffer this type of violence.
The renewed and updated agreement includes the Barcelona Education Consortium for the first time, in addition to the City Council, the Catalan Women’s Institute, the Barcelona Health Consortium and the Mossos d’Esquadra police corps. Measures in the agreement include coordination with different services to define psycho-social care for women and children who suffer sexist violence. The inclusion of the Education Consortium introduces the school environment as a new sphere of action, enabling improved support and monitoring for affected minors, as well as support for teaching staff colleagues and workshops on the prevention of sexist violence.
Within the framework of the agreement, the Barcelona Circuit against Gender Violence institutional board has presented a new crisis cabinet which will meet in cases of femicide or attempted femicide. The cabinet brings together all the signatory institutions to assess the situation and coordinate any resulting action.
