New recreation area with water games to open in the Parc de Joan Miró this summer

A new space with water games for children up to the age of 12 is to open this summer in the Parc de Joan Miró, in the neighbourhood of Nova Esquerra de l’Eixample. The recreation area is intended for family use and replaces the site known as the Platja de l’Eixample, in the Jardins de la Torre de les Aigües.

The area at C/ Aragó, 2, will be divided into different section with games for children up to the age of 12. There will also be staff to help run the activities.

  • Rest and relaxation area
  • Water games
  • Water circuits
  • Water slides
  • Sprinklers

The site will be open every day from 25 June to 6 September, from 10 am to 8 pm. The area will have a maximum capacity of 120 people (60 children with an adult) and the maximum time users may spend there will be two hours.

Admission will be free for babies (under 12 months old) and for over-65s or Pink Card holders. Individual admission will otherwise cost 1,80 euros, with discounts for groups and large families.

Recreation and rest for local residents

The new facility replaces the site known as the Platja de l’Eixample, an urban bathing facility which opened every summer in the Jardins de la Torre de les Aigües, the concession period having concluded.

The change is also a chance to adapt the recreation area to regulations on noise pollution, guaranteeing rest hours for local residents.
