The regeneration of the area of land known as La Campa, in the neighbourhood of La Teixonera, in the district of Horta-Guinardó, has been one of the main demands from local people in recent years. The goal was to make it more accessible and ascribe different uses to it, boosting recreational, leisure and sports options in the neighbourhood.

How has La Campa been remodelled as a large city site?

The Teixonera Neighbourhood Plan has enabled local people to define uses for the land and turn it into a large space for sports and a place for people to meet.

The work to revamp this space of 11,950 square metres started in April 2019 and involved the following:

  • Creation of games and exercise circuits for senior citizens, a volleyball court and signposted routes for athletes, with granite sand paving.
  • New urban furniture.
  • Extension of green area.
  • Lighting in sports areas and access paths.
  • Spring with water for drinking and watering.
  • Improved access points to La Campa from C/ Coll i Alentorn and C/ Granja Vella.

Revamp to the rugby and seven-a-side football pitch at the Teixonera – Vall d’Hebron municipal sports centre

At the same time, work has been done at the Texionera – Vall d’Hebron municipal sports complex, with improvements to turf on the rugby and seven-a-side football pitches and revamped changing rooms. The work means the rugby pitch, used by Químics Rugby and the FC Barcelona rugby team, is now accredited for use in higher-level competitions.
