Call for the 8 March - Maria Aurèlia Capmany Award, this year focusing on the social importance of careThe 35th edition of the 8 March - Maria Aurèlia Capmany Award, organised annually to mark International Women’s Day, is inviting candidacies from initiatives focusing on the social importance of care. Entries can be submitted until 17 March 2021.
Democratisation of care
The tasks involved in sustaining life and people’s care are necessary for society to function and must be a collective and shared responsibility. In the current scenario of the social and health emergency, the importance of care in all spheres has become patently clear.
While an essential building block for society, the daily effort involved in care work often falls on the shoulders of women, who unfairly take on the unequal distribution of undervalued and invisible tasks that mean daily overburdening and a deterioration in quality of life.
35th edition of the 8 March – Maria Aurèlia Capmany Award
Using the slogan “24 hours a day, 365 days a year – Let’s democratise care work”, this year’s 8 March – Maria Aurèlia Capmany Award centres on projects promoting joint social and community responsibility for care, as well as the eradication of inequalities in favour of empowerment and the political participation of women.
