The Barcelona Deep Tech Summit 2023 brings together start-ups, universities, specialist investors, institutions and experts to showcase new initiatives and accelerate their access to the market: the fair will be offering numerous activities such as lectures, discussion panels, interviews, debates, workshops and awards ceremonies.

The main purpose of the congress is to be able to connect the most valuable technology with specialist investors, who can comprhend the importance of the sector and provide funding to speed up the arrival of solutions onto the market. Various activities are being organised to help this happen, such as the Investment Forum, where a group of start-ups in their early stages will get the chance to give a business pitch before specialist investors, and the Open Innovation Challenge, where start-ups and advanced tech research groups will connect through individual sessions with companies looking for innovative solutions.

There are nearly 300 Deep Tech start-ups in Catalonia, with a turnover of over 125 million euros between them and employing 1,700 highly qualified workers. Their activity is mainly in the fields of biotechnology (40%), AI (23%), robotics (8.6%) and photonics (5.9%).

The event is being organised by de Barcelona Activa and five universities: UB, UOC, UPF, UAB and UPC. The congress is jointly organised with the Government of Catalonia, through ACCIÓ and the Ministry of Research and Universities.
