First session by the Academic Advisory Board for the 2030 Agenda

The Academic Advisory Board for the 2030 Agenda, set up to advise the city government on the definition of specific measures for implementing the sustainable development goals in the city, held its first session today by videoconference.

The board is made up of 32 academics of renowned prestige in economic, social and environmental fields, who gave their opinions on the proposals put forward by the Deputy Mayor, Laia Bonet, and the Commissioner for the 2030 Agenda, Miquel Rodriguez.

The role of the board is to:

  • Advise the municipal government team on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and achieving its sustainable development goals.
  • Promote studies in collaboration with universities, teaching centres, research centres, foundations, public and private institutions linked to the spheres of action for the 2030 Agenda.
  • Propose action and projects to make the city a leader in achieving the sustainable development goals and to propose innovative public policies.
  • Provide a broad overall vision of all aspects linked to the 2030 Agenda, particularly in relation to projects and initiatives promoted by the City Council.
  • Assess the development of the government measure for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and to propose improvements to the system of indicators.
  • Be familiar with the results of annual reports which monitor and assess the goals before they are made public.
  • Promote awareness and backing from the public for the 2030 Agenda and its sustainable development goals, connecting the academic world, institutions and citizens.
