Return of the iN RESiDENCE contemporary creation programme at secondary schools

The twelfth edition of ‘iN RESiDENCE. Artists at the Schools of Barcelona’ is under way. The contemporary creation programme for secondary schools features a line-up of 27 artists and will involve 40 teachers and 400 pupils at 24 city schools. The Vapor del Fil, Sant Andreu, El Til·ler and Bon Pastor secondary schools will all be taking part for the first time.

As for mediation teams, the development of the programme will be curated and coordinated by the following teams and organisations:

  • Organisations specifically geared towards the crossover between education and culture (A Bao A Qu, L’Afluent, Experimentem amb l’Art, Transductores)
  • Educational teams from museums (Fundació Joan Miró de Barcelona, Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona, Museu del Disseny and El Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria)
  • Cultural facilities (Mercat de les Flors, Teatre Lliure)
  • Teams from creation factories (Graner, Sala Beckett/Obrador Internacional de Dramatúrgia, La Central del Circ, La Caldera Les Corts)
  • Spaces for independent creation (Antic Teatre, La Poderosa)

iN RESiDENCE has so far produced 146 residencies at 50 secondary schools, accounting for nearly three quarters of the total number in Barcelona. Residencies to date have involved 166 artists, 180 teachers and 2,550 pupils.
