Shuttle bus to cover the entire L1 metro section closed for works
The alternative transport covering the section of the L1 metro line closed for works, between Fondo and Clot, will be adapted from 25 July onwards given the expected drop of more than 50% in demand during August. One of the shuttle bus services will change its route up until 30 August to cover the entire section affected, while the other will circulate between Clot and Fabra i Puig to offer more options and reduce transfers.
Two buses
The shuttle service will cover the route between Fondo and Clot to offer a better solution for the needs of local residents in the district of Sant Andreu, while another bus will strengthen the route along Av. Meridiana as far as Fabra i Puig.
The shuttle buses will continue from the Onze de Setembre station as far as Clot, stopping at the stations in between (Fabra i Puig, La Sagrera and Navas) at intervals of 5 and 6 minutes on working days. The buses on this route come on top of the second special service, which will continue to cover the route between Clot and Fabra i Puig at intervals of between 2.5 and 3.5 minutes on working days.
More capacity
The buses starting their route from Fondo will offer more capacity and connections will be added for people using the stops of Torras i Bages, Trinitat Vella and Baró de Viver.
The service will continue to use articulated vehicles which are accessible for people with reduced mobility, backed up with another special service with two standard buses linking with the stops of Glòries (which has lifts) and Clot.
Better alternative: L9 and Rodalies local trains
Despite the bus option, the rail alternative is still being recommended as the quickest alternative, particularly the L9 Nord metro, which connects La Sagrera with Fondo in 13 minutes, combining with L5.
Work on L1
This section of the L1 is closed for a complete overhaul and upgrade of more than 9 km of tracks, apparatus and equipment along a stretch which is over fifty years old.
The works are being done in the shortest possible time (two months), coinciding with time of year when urban mobility is at its lowest and reducing disruptions to users.
Full information on the L1 metro service and alternatives while work is being carried out between Clot and Fondo can be found on the TMB website.
