The Full Council unanimously approved the additions. Half of the trees are in the Jardins de la Torre Girona, next to the Parc de Pedralbes in the district of Les Corts.

The other group of trees, nine in this case, are located in the Jardins de la Casa Ignacio de Puig, very close to La Rambla, in Ciutat Vella. The other twelve are individual trees located around the districts of Sarrià – Sant Gervasi, Gràcia, Horta-Guinardó and Les Corts.

This is the largest addition in the last twenty years and comes on top of the 28 trees protected in 2019. The catalogue includes over 200 protected trees around the city.

The factors taken into account when including trees in the catalogue, which ensures their conservation and the conditions for their development (none of the trees can be eliminated), are their rareness, aesthetic qualities, historical value, age and size.
