City facilities and organisations are joining in with the message for 25N through a special programme in November. Most of the activities are free, but some charge for admission and many require advance booking.

Ciutat Vella

The main event is in front of the Barceloneta community centre on 25 November, from 12 noon. Local people will be able to enjoy an extract from Etéreas, the contemporary and urban dance piece by Cia. Kiko López. After that some quantitative and qualitative data for the neighbourhood will be given, highlighting the feminisation of poverty, taken from the support provided for local women by the community centre and the Information and Labour Guidance Point (PIOL). At 12.30 pm a manifesto will be read out and a minute’s silence observed in memory of women murdered.

Neighbourhood facilities and organisations are adding their weight to the anti-sexist message with a string of activities. Check out the programme for details.

The main event for this year’s 25N in L’Eixample is in the Dreta de l’Eixample neighbourhood on Friday, 24 November. The activity starts in the plenary chamber at the District Office at 5.30 pm, with institutional speeches and the reading of a manifesto by the Eixample Women’s Council. Students from the Municipal Music Conservatory will also be performing music and the façade of the building will be lit up in purple. After that, at 6.45 pm, the exhibition “Eixamplem identitats” will be inaugurated at the Mercat de la Concepció, featuring artists’ creations on the prevention of male violence, made by students from schools belonging to the Eixample Network of Schools for Equality and Diversity.

Facilities and organisations in L’Eixample will also be offering an extensive programme. Check out all the activities and take part!

The programme for the district of Sants-Montjuïc includes over twenty activities during the month. The main event consists of a show denouncing Dones sense veu [women without a voice], about forms of violence experienced by women during the course of their lives. This activity is being held in the plenary chamber at the District Office on Thursday, 23 November, at 6.30 pm.

In addition, organisations in all the neighbourhoods will be offering a varied programme, with film forums, talks, awareness workshops, theatre and more.

Les Corts

The district of Les Corts is offering ten activities for 25N.  The main event is on Friday, 24 November, at 6 pm. Five simultaneous marches have been organised against male violence towards women, starting from five different locations.

In addition, the Les Corts Women’s Group, community centres, the Museu de Ciències Naturals, libraries and young people’s centres are organising exhibitions, talks and film screenings plus various artistic expressions. Check out all the activities.

Sarrià – Sant Gervasi

The main event in Sarrià – Sant Gervasi is the recital This Poem is Not Consent, conducted by the Barcelona poet Sònia Moll: a reading with a raised fist to give a voice to the daily struggle. The activity is being held at the Pere Pruna community centre on Friday, 24 November, at 7.30 pm.

In addition, the programme for 25N in Sarrià – Sant Gervasi makes its way around different facilities in the district. At the Casa Orlandai community centre you’ll find the exhibition “Sobreviure als camps de maduixes”, while at the Espai Jove Casa Sagnier the programme includes workshops for young people, a transfeminist action meeting and a film forum. The Vallvidrera – Vázquez Montalbán community centre will also be joining in with an exhibition, a talk on gender violence and a workshop on breaking down stereotypes. Elsewhere, the Vil·la Florida community centre is offering a theoretical and practical workshop (a charge applies) on personal defence for women.

Gràcia is organising a series of musical performances in Plaça de la Virreina on 24 November, from 7 pm: dance jazz with Kdansa, the musical gathering “Estimar és de valents”, with the singer-songwriter Laura Socaixina and the poet Olza Olzeta, and a concert by the singer-songwriter Alba Luz. The feminist commission for the Castellers de la Vila de Gràcia (human towers group) will also be reading out a manifesto.

Yet the programme of activities is much broader. On 24 November the Gràcia fab lab is organising an activity to create inclusive posters with recycled cardboard using a laser cutter. Can Carol is also offering a placard workshop to get ready for the demonstrations, as well as a talk on the role of women in the revolt in Iran, and the 3rd Intersectional Feminism Meeting. Elsewhere, the El Coll community centre is joining in with a workshop to make placards and a workshop talk on self-defence.

A self-defence workshop, talks on feminism and an exhibition are just some of the activities planned by facilities and organisations in the district of Horta-Guinardó. The main event is once again being held in the garden at the Biblioteca Horta – Can Mariner, on 24 November, at 5.45 pm.

Nou Barris

As with the rest of the districts, the usual event for 25N in Nou Barris is being organised alongside other activities seeking to raise awareness to combat male violence towards women. Organised at the Ateneu La Bòbila by the Nou Barris Feminist Group, a manifesto will be read out against violence towards women and an extract shown from the documentary Descendents, with a round table and an activity to accompany participants in identifying types of sexist violence they have experienced. The event culminates with the march “Ens volem vives!” and a drumming session around Plaça de Sóller. All this will take place on Friday, 24 November, from 6 pm.

Nou Barris is also offering a themed programme for 25N at facilities in all the neighbourhoods, with over thirty activities.

Sant Andreu

The main event for 25N in Sant Andreu is being organised between Plaça de la Trinitat and the olive tree at the library on 23 November, at 7 pm. After the institutional speeches, local people will be able to enjoy a Bollywood dance display to denounce violence towards women. A manifesto will also be read out, along with a concert by Coral Performance Metoo and the lighting of candles around the olive tree.

Neighbourhood community centres and social centres, libraries, youth centres, elderly people’s centres and other organisations are all organising a variety of activities throughout the month, with something for people of all ages and based around the fight against male violence towards women.

Sant Martí

The district of Sant Martí is organising a ceremony entitled “Pos’at al seul loc” in the function room at the District Office on Tuesday, 21 November, at 6 pm. Inspired by the exhibition “Dones supervivents”, activity includes a screening of the documentary Tres històries lliures de masclisme, followed by a dramatised reading, a debate and a musical performance.

Local facilities and organisations have teamed up to give visibility to 25N through thirty activities, including exhibitions, talks, workshops and shows promoting the feminist struggle, coexistence and respect for diversity. The activities are being organised by various social centres in the neighbourhood (Maresme, Espai Antoni Miró Peris, La Llacuna and La Verneda), community centres (Parc Sandaru, Sant Martí, Can Felipa, El Besòs i el Maresme), centres for the elderly (Verneda Alta, Quatre Cantons and Taulat – Can Saladrigas), the Casal Ca l’Isidret and the Casal de Joves del Clot – Camp de l’Arpa.
