A grant to renovate sports facilities

Private sports facilities in the city managed by clubs, entities and non-profit associations can now benefit from subsidies offered by the Barcelona Institute of Sports.

The grants are meant for projects investing in safety, adapting to federation regulations, improving accessibility and eliminating architectural barriers, as well as work relating to energy efficiency, sports equipment which can be enabled and other improvements.

The first series of grants offered by the Barcelona Institute of Sports is worth a total of 400,000 euros and the application period is open until 22 June. Applications and information can be found at barcelona.cat/tramits.

The city’s commitment to sport

Over the course of 2017, the city’s sports federations received 1,050,000 euros in municipal subsidies for developing sports projects. In addition, the three main international sports events held in Barcelona (The European Water Polo Championship 2018, the Basque Pelota World Championship in October 2018 and the Barcelona World Roller Games 2019) have received subsidies to the tune of 7,110,000 euros.
