Work has now started on the multi-purpose building of 5,400 square metres, 1,600 of which will be used for a library, providing a place of reference for local people and organisations in the Sarrià neighbourhood. The facility will also house technical services operated by the district and a space which can be used for community activities. Work should be completed in July 2023 and involves a budget of over 14 million euros.

The new facility on the site at Pg. Bonanova 119-121, giving onto Pl. Sarrià, corresponds to a long-standing demand by local people, who have long been calling for a public facility of this type. Sarrià has not had a public library since its only one disappeared at the end of the 90s.

What is to be the fourth library in the district of Sarrià – Sant Gervasi is one of the most outstanding projects in the Municipal Action Programme (PAM), along with the building which will house it.
