The city’s first LGBTI resource centre, soon to be a reality in Sant Antoni

The new Municipal Centre for LGBTI Resources, soon to open in the Sant Antoni neighbourhood, is now a step closer thanks to the signing of an agreement between the City Council and the LGTBIcat platform to manage the centre. The facility will offer direct support, information and advice for the city’s community of lesbians, gays, transsexuals, bisexuals and intersexuals. It will also help generate resources for use by other municipal services.

The LGBTI reference facility, located at C/ Comte Borrell 20-24, has been designed together with LGBTI entities in the city to help a long-standing demand become a reality and position Barcelona alongside leading cities in this sphere, such as Amsterdam and New York.

The resource centre will offer over 1,200 square metres of multi-purpose space for activities, workshops, training, conferences and exhibitions. It will also include rooms for entities and for the documents centre, as well as areas for personal, legal, labour, social and healthcare advice, where it will also be possible to take an HIV test with privacy.

Work on the centre began in October 2017 with a projected budget of 1,428,348,57 euros and should be completed in the autumn.
