More than 94,000 people ushered in 2020 from Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina, which was packed with universal languages and contemporary shapes for celebrating the New Year.

The show began at twelve minutes before midnight (11.48 m), covering the 12 months of 2019, through music, fire and light. It was immediately followed by the arrival of the last twelve tolls of the bells, a burst of Fireworks and flames which welcomed in the New Year. And, to round everything off, the first twelve minutes of 2020 saw a poetry show with images evoking the natural work projected onto a big screen.

An original soundtrack was created to usher in 2020, featuring 125 flame and firework generators, a large 15-metre-high cylinder and zip lines over the Magic Fountain. As in the previous year, the show was run by the Group F company, one of the international benchmarks in big-format shows and which has organised events such as the official opening of the Rio Games and the Abu Dhabi Louvre. The show’s artistic director was Christophe Berthonneau and the electronica and electro-acoustic music was composed by Scott Gibbons.
