La espuma del mar, or Sea Foam, is the perfect metaphor for this record. The songs are an entire world in themselves, because they are based on popular tradition, history, what we share, tears and celebration. In short, life.

These songs spoke so vividly to Albert Sanz when he was a child and was discovering the world and music that he has stored them in that place in his brain that is the last one to go when memory vanishes. However, La espuma del mar is a record filled not with other people's songs but his own, and this is why it is also a self-portrait. It is the portrait of a pianist who always wanted to sing and who dreamt of doing it for years: a pianist with a singer inside him.

Here, the sea that Sorolla painted is not the only thing that the artist sees from El Cabanyal, but more horribly, it is what devours thousands of migrants who wonder why their lives are worth less if we are all from the same sea.

In La espuma del mar, this Valencian musician lets himself be carried away, cradled by the waves. ‘Directionless, my boat caressing the wind’, he says in one of the songs. Javier Colina (double bass and accordion), Jordi Rossy (vibraphone), David Gadea (percussion) and Tico Porcar (drums) accompany him on his journey.

Duration: 75 minutes.
