Mukti is a musical duo of Indian and English origins, formed in the Poble Sec neighbourhood. They present a unique, danceable musical proposal, which mixes the musical traditions of the Indian sub-continent such as Sufi and Hindustani, with some of the musical styles better known in Europe such as flamenco, Latin music, funk and electronica. Mukti’s lyrics, written mainly in Hindi or Punjabi, take their inspiration from the folklore of India, covering themes such as an appreciation of nature and love. However, the duo adapts them to give them a more current flavour, making them more egalitarian in aspects such as gender and race.
