Walid Ben Selim is a versatile artist with a style which plays with the boundaries of genres: poetry, music, theatre... Creator of a universe inspired by Arabic poetry, in Nascentia, the project presented at the MAC, he gives a voice to great Sufis, a meeting between Arabic and music to build ties between different eras and cultures. Harp and vocals invite us to embark on a mystical journey beyond words.
Accompanied by Marie-Marguerite Cano, a classical harp virtuoso, the singer builds a space for musical spirituality, a form of exchange between spoken Arabic and the inaccessible and symbolic language of the harp. A poetic bastion, planted with love and joy.
Walid Ben Selim is a Moroccan musician and producer whose compositions represent a bridge between the Arab world and the West. With his origins in the Casablanca hip-hop scene, the artist sings and recites his own poems, as well as classical and modern Arabic poetry with a strong message of freedom. His sound lab is in the eastern Pyrennes, in a Cathar castle, where he invites his artistic circle to invent sensitive music with poetry as a diapason.
