NOIA
Barcelona/New York
Behind the alias NOIA is Gisela Fullà-Silvestre, a talented composer and sound master for film and television who is coming to BAM to present her latest album gisela live, an album that has been praised by media like Pitchfork, NPR, the NY Times and Stereogum and features collaborations with Maria Arnal and Buscabulla.
This Barcelona-born artist who graduated from Berklee opened the doors to the imagination with her first EP, Habits, an exquisite, romantic work with famous songs like "Nostalgia del Futuro" and "Itaca Tropical".
In this latest project, she combines Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, English and traditional sounds from her childhood in southwest Europe to reflect her personal transformations in the past two years, when she has lived between New York and Barcelona, with her agile and profoundly personal voice that guides us through it with her songs.
For this project, Gisela took a recording device with her wherever she went: dinners with friends, weekends in the park, voice messages and city sounds. The outcome is a profoundly autobiographical yet instantly recognisable work.
