Open day and guided tour of the Funeral Carriages Collection

Funeral carriages, carriages for taking the bereaved to the cemetery and motorised vehicles, with all sorts of decorative and functional items. This is the only collection of its kind on public display in Europe and it gives visitors the chance to see how ways of life have evolved and the funeral rituals of our ancestors in Barcelona.

The tour looks at each of the pieces and helps visitors to understand their connection with the social evolution of Barcelona. Here you’ll discover the stories behind them and the meaning of the different symbolisms. An extensive collection of graphic documents offer us an insight into the Barcelona of the mid-18th to the mid-20th century.
