Pongo presenta Sakidila
Pongo
Angola
Kuduro
She rose to fame at the age of sixteen with Wegue Wegue, an original song that became one of the most celebrated tracks of the band Buraka Som Sistema, with millions of internet views. More than fifteen years have passed since then, and Pongo is now an international reference for the fusion of kuduro, afrobeats, favela funk, and afrofunk in her works. Songs that blend genres and languages to break down cultural barriers, a strategy she implements in Sakidila, her debut album.
Sakidila (thank you, in Kimbundu) is powerful and addictive music to liven up any party and fill the clubs, climb up the charts worldwide, and elevate contemporary kuduro of Angolan roots as a rising force within dance music. A reality already sensed in the artist's first EP, released in 2019, revealed an innovative sound inspired by other African styles creating a captivating universe.
Accompanied by a drummer, a DJ, and two dancers, Pongo will get the audience at the Teatre Grec dancing in an energetic and intense concert. A must-see at Música Mercè.
Duration: 75 minutes.
