Photography. A selection of 170 photos from the thousand or so images that the painter and draughtsman collected during his professional career.

Photography for Artists. The collection of the illustrator Josep Lluís Pellicer can be seen from 23 November 2023 to 19 May 2024 at the Photographic Archive of Barcelona and admission is free.

Rural and urban landscapes, ethnographic and military aspects, studies of the human body, plant and animal models are just a few of the themes that Pellicer brought together and which highlight the work of photographers specialising in the production of nature photos or photos for artists.

Many plastic artists obtained these types of images from bookshops and engravings houses during the second half of the 19th century and used them as material for inspiration.

The exhibition aims to capture the way that European society regarded the world at that time and, above all, to lend recognition to the work carried out by these often forgotten photographers based on one man’s collection.
