The project Espelmes de llum transforms the Gran Via into a serene and evocative landscape based on a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional candles. The installation combines vertically suspended opal methacrylate tubes—which simulate inverted candles with warm light at the base—with a cord of light that winds between them, creating a visual metaphor for citizen connection. This composition evokes calm and cohesion amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life through a geometric grid of great formal purity.
Lighting: 900 luminous candles (5 W and 3000 K LED modules) distributed along various sections of the Gran Via, complemented by 460.8 metres of 15 W LED wire, which connects certain points as if it were a moving river of light.
Sustainability: the proposed materials, such as opal methacrylate and high-efficiency LED technology, seek a respectful visual and energy integration with the urban environment that reduces the environmental impact and maintains high lighting quality.
