EMOTIONAL HEALTH, CARE AND MENSTRUATION
A qualitative and participatory study for the co-creation of a guide for the development of public policies in the city of Barcelona
The objective is to identify, from a gender perspective, the emotional health care needs and strategies of women and people who menstruate (≥18 years) experiencing menstrual discomfort, in order to jointly build a guide of actions and recommendations for the development of public policies in the city of Barcelona.
Center: Institut de recerca a l’atenció primària Jordi Gol i Gurina
The project addresses the relationship between emotional and menstrual health, including factors such as education, access to healthcare services, and social well-being. With a participatory and gender-based approach, it is structured in two phases: a collection of qualitative evidence on the needs of women and people who menstruate (e.g., trans and non-binary people who menstruate), and a co-creation phase with these groups, professionals, and political and community stakeholders. The result will be a guide of actions and recommendations to improve public policies related to emotional and menstrual health in Barcelona. The project also foresees citizen participation actions that strengthen healthcare, social, and educational practice in response to the needs of the local community.
