With Victòria Medina, archaeologist, and scientific and cultural educator
Throughout history, the sea has played a significant role in the culture and traditions of numerous human societies. From the art of navigation to naval constructions, to polyphonic songs, seafaring legends or religious and ceremonial practices, there are many traditions and beliefs that still today show the deep connection that coastal towns have with the sea. In this talk we’ll be looking at a broad array of maritime culture that is recognised by UNESCO as Heritage of Humanity: each of these cultural expressions reflects the importance of the sea as a source of life, support, inspiration and spirituality.
