“Babet, cuina a tres veus” (Babet, cuisine in three voices), in the Versus Teatre

The original work by the theatre company Les Cot fuses humour, mystery, cuisine and jazz, and can be seen from the 7th of February to the 4th of May

Babet, cuina a tres veus tells the tale of a restaurant called Babet - a place where the recipes were carefully designed to make diners experience the entire range of human emotions, from revenge to desperation, and not forgetting love and hate.

Ten years after Clara, Olívia and Tina open the restaurant in partnership with their chef, Xavier, the three women meet to pay tribute to the chef, who died in mysterious circumstances while at the very peak of his career. During the meeting the three reveal a series of secrets relating to the dead man and the restaurant.

The original idea, script, staging and production are all the work of theatre company Les Cot, which consists of Anna Ponces, who also directs, Maria Viñas and Èlia Corral. The performance by the three actresses is accompanied by Òscar Peñarroya at the piano, delivering a musical production which combines elements of mystery, humour, fantasy, cuisine and jazz. The jazz element in particular takes the form of classics by Gershwin, Cloe Porter and Duke Ellington which have been translated into Catalan and arranged for three voices.

Babet, cuina a tres veus was performed over a few days last summer in the Círcol Maldà and can now be seen every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Versus Teatre up until the 4th of May.
