Barcelona Arts District

Between 5 May and 1 July, various neighbourhood arts venues will be hosting the first edition of this fixed circuit of music, stage arts and audiovisual arts that will bring culture to every district in the city.

The city is celebrating the arrival of Barcelona Arts District, a fixed and free circuit of music, theatre, dance, circus and audiovisuals, artistic performances by both recognised and young artists that can be seen at many civic centres and other neighbourhood arts venues over two editions this year (spring and autumn).

The starting gun for the first edition of Barcelona Arts District, the one marking the spring, will be on 5 May and the programme will run until 1 July.

It will feature artists and companies such as Animal Religion, Balkumbia, Patricia Palomares, Zero en Conducta, 2princesesbarbudes, La Màlaga, Les Impuxibles, Marc Martínez, Mumumusic Circus, Nakany Kanté, Quartet Brossa, Sònia Gómez and Toni Mira/Nats Nus.

During the two editions that will be held every year, Barcelona Arts District will reach all ten of the city's districts, in thirteen arts facilities, and it will present five community projects and offer over eighty free shows.

Barcelona Arts District is the first programme to be set up as part of the culture shock plan for Barcelona's neighbourhoods, a government measure that was presented last September.
