The Barcelona Jazz Festival reaches its 52nd edition

The international jazz festival is back with all the health measures and more enthusiasm than ever.

The Voll-Damm Barcelona International Jazz Festival is celebrating its 52nd edition this year, which has managed to overcome the restrictions, and will be held from the 24th of October to January 29th with all the health measures in place to guarantee the safety of everyone. Celebrating the centenary of Charlie Parker, this edition will be held in different concert halls in Barcelona, such as the Sala BARTS, the Liceu Conservatory and the Palau de la Música Catalana, as well as three new venues: the Milano Jazz Club, the Palau Robert, and the two clubs that will be offering online concerts Smalls and The Village Vanguard. In addition, this year there is a high female presence in the programme. Highlights include Sílvia Pérez Cruz, María José Llergo, the collective show 'I'm A Soul Woman', Carolina Alabau and Èlia Bastida and Andrea Motis.

Other outstanding concerts include the farewells of La Locomotora Negra and Pegasus, the 15 years of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, the Brand Mehldau concert, which will receive the festival's Gold Medal, and the Natalie Dessay concert, which was supposed to open the festival but has been postponed for the moment. As on every year, there will also be conferences, master classes, meetings with the artists and many other activities, as well as a festival within the festival, the flamenco series De Cajón!.

Some of the concerts and activities are free and others, with prices ranging from 10 to 33 euros. You can buy tickets from the festival's website or from the corresponding venues.
