Anglada Camarasa, at the Dreta de l'Eixample

The Barcelona Modernista Fair will have the cities of Ferrol, León, Reus and Teruel as guests.

On 27, 28 and 29 May, the Barcelona Modernista Fair and the Festa Major of the Dreta de l'Eixample will be back, hand in hand and in-person, with the support of the Institut Municipal del Paisatge Urbà. Most of the activities will be carried out on Carrer Girona, between Avinguda Diagonal and Carrer València.

This year, the Fair will be commemorating one of the most universal Catalan painters, Hermen Anglada Camarassa (Barcelona, 1871 - Port de Pollença, 1959), coinciding with the 150th anniversary of his birth. For this reason, on the 25th at 7 p.m., a lecture named Anglada Camarasa, gran pintor internacional, will be given at the Palau Macaya by Dr. Francesc Fontbona, the Any Anglada curator. The artist will also be the lead of the 16th edition of the children's sticker album and the Pinta com Anglada Camarasa workshop.

Among the permanent activities planned for 27 and 28 May from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and for 29 May from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. is the Modernista Fair, located on the Carrer Girona section between Diagonal and Valencia, and on Avinguda Diagonal, between Bruc and Bailèn. You will also find other themed areas, such as the Espai Comerç (on Carrer Girona, between Aragó and Mallorca, and in the Passatge Pla); the Espai d’Entitats (between Diputació and Consell de Cent); the Espai Restauració (between Consell de Cent and Aragó); and the Mercat Artesanal (on Carrer Girona, between Valencia and Mallorca, and on Diagonal, between Girona and Bailèn).

As part of the Modernista Fair, there will be stands from the Casa Navàs in Reus and the Casa Botines in León — works by Lluís Domènech i Montaner and Antoni Gaudí, respectively — as well as from the municipalities of Teruel, in Aragon, and Ferrol, in Galicia. In addition, the historical setting group Llum i Color del 900 will offer exhibitions of tokens and duels with pistols, as well as a fashion show from the early 20th century.

Among the new features of the Festa Major will be an exhibition of the water pump of a 1929 fire engine, the exhibition of the Gegants Modernistes of La Pedrera and their parade on Sunday, family workshops, Storytelling with Madame Librairie and her travelling library, the little train on Mallorca Street, the eight parade of classical vehicles, musical performances and street lunches.
