Johnny Depp and Isabelle Huppert, among the stars who will visit the festival.

A day before it hits several cinemas in the city, on April 15, the 5th edition of the BCN Film Fest will premiere Promising Young Woman, the first film directed by Emerald Fennell and starring Carey Mulligan, and which is nominated for five Oscars. This feature film about revenge will inaugurate an intense week of screenings, spread over four spaces, the Cinemes Verdi, the Institut français Barcelona, CaixaForum and CASA SEAT in Barcelona, and divided into different sections: The Official, Cinema amb gràcia, Zona oberta, Imprescindibles, Art al cinema and Japan by cineasia.

A dozen titles will compete in the Official Section. These include Solo una vez, Marta Buchaca's adaptation of her play on gender violence, directed by Guillermo Ríos Bordón. Some other films will be El olvido que seremos, by Fernando Trueba, Sombra, by Bruno Gascon, Penguin Bloom, by Glendyn Ivin, or Petit pays, by Eric Barbier. Cinema amb Gràcia is a selection of different comedies, such as Poliamor para principiantes, by Fernando Colomo, or Le bonheur des uns..., by Daniel Cohen. Zona Oberta is a competitive space dedicated to films of special interest but which do not fit into the Official Section, while Imprescindibles, which collects classics, is dedicated in this edition exclusively to Charles Chaplin. Art al cinema is made of documentaries about great painters filmed in high definition. Finally, in the Japan by cineasia section, viewers will find seven proposals for Asian cinema from different eras and genres.

The BCN Film Fest will last until April 23, St. George's Day, when a very appropriate title will be screened: Entre rosas, a French comedy by Pierre Pinaud.

A prize of the festival that already has a winner is the Honour Award; it will go to Isona Passola, producer, director and, in recent years, President of the Catalan Film Academy.

At the last minute, the organisers have also made public the names of the figures from the world of cinema who will visit the festival. They are national and international, and without a doubt, due to his popularity, the presence of the actor Johnny Depp stands out, but also others such as the actress and producer Isabelle Huppert, the director Fernando Trueba, the also director Kiyoshi Kurosawa, actress Clara Lago, or actors Javier Cámara and Karra Elejalde, among many others.
