The exhibition reflects on the influence of the work of the director on the evolution of the history of cinema
Georges Méliès is considered the first of cinema’s great magicians, or ‘cinemagicians’. The fantastical touches included in his narrative and, above all, his use of visual trickery, were pioneering steps during the early stages of celluloid art. Continuing with their tradition of programming exhibitions relating to the world of cinema in general, the CaixaForum of Barcelona has programmed this exhibition, titled Georges Méliès. La màgia del cinema as a tribute to the creator. The exhibition is an attempt to explain how Méliès forged his unique universe and how he helped to shape this newly-born art form.
