La caiguda del Califa by Lorenzo Meloni

DocField: a festival of documentary photography

Until 30 November, a variety of venues in Barcelona will host an itinerary with images that aims to expand our views and speak about conflicts in the world.

One of the unmissable events in the year for photography fans, the Docfield Festival is an exhibition of images and documents that aim to help us understand in a visual way how things work in today’s world.  The fourth edition of the festival is scheduled to run this year from 19 October to 30 November.

The Docfield experience is divided into different itineraries and spaces. Firstly, is a collective exhibition and is shared between a number of different galleries. It must be seen by following an itinerary and, perhaps, over a number of days. Participating sites include Palau Robert, Espai Mercè Sala, the University of Barcelona, FNAC Triangle, CCCB, Centre Cívic Pati Llimona, Arts Santa Mònica and Museu Marítim. There will also be images on the streets in the Rambles. The festival also features screenings of documentaries in different venues in the city and an educational programme. Among the works chosen are ‘Èxode: Vida i mort a la ruta líbia cap a Europa’ by Ricard García Vilanova and Karlos Zurutuza, and ‘La caiguda del Califat’ by Lorenzo Meloni for Magnum. Internaitonal conflicts, urban change, migrations… images that explain the world.
