L'Art Impossible

Inclusive art at Mercat de les Flors and Institut del Teatre

On 3 and 4 June the project ‘L’Art Impossible’ offers the chance to help handicapped people to play a greater role in our society

One of society's greatest obligations and challenges is to make sure that people with handicaps are not excluded from any activity and one an event that is working hardest to make that happen in Barcelona is L’Art Impossible, a scenic arts festival at Mercat de les Flors and Institut del Teatre that aims to take to the stage the works and projects of artists with handicaps and to vindicate the existence of inclusive art.

On 3 and 4 June, Mercat de les Flors and Institut del Teatre will host a series of performances and scenic happenings in which both handicapped and non-handicapped people will take part. The objective is twofold: to promote the work of deserving artists and companies who may face more difficulties than most and to connect public and sensibilities, thereby promoting participation and inclusion. The programme is extensive: on 3 June, the main action consists of a jazz concert by Ignazi Terraza, Nono Fernández and Xavi Hinojosa, with dance by the Liant La Troca company, while 4 June will see plays like “Lucrecia y Judith” by Palmyra Teatro, dance performances like “La pell als marges” byARTransforma and a roundtable discussion on inclusive art.

Additional information on the activities available, which are all free, can be found here. Places are limited and booking is recommended. More information is available here.
