“La gran ilusión” ("The Great Illusion"), in the Teatre Borràs

Up until the 19th of January, magician Antonio Díaz will be presenting his new show in which he interprets a skilful illusionist who, unbeknownst to him, is taking part in a popular reality show

La Gran Ilusión is the title of the new show by renowned magician and illusionist, Antonio Díaz (alias El Mago Pop in his Friday-night television appearances). Diaz, who received the National Magician’s Award in 2008 for his first performance entitled The Surprising History of Mr. Snow, is the protagonist of a theatrical story during which he displays his talents as an illusionist.
The performance tells the story of Antonio, an illusionist trapped in the second ever Total Reality Show, much along the lines of the character played by Jim Carrey in The Truman Show. On this occasion, a Catalan television station is running a programme entitled Magic Life, which follows the protagonist every moment of his life. Renowned actors such as Josep María Pou and Emma Vilarasau interpret the roles of family and friends of the magician.
One day a production error reveals the great deception to which the protagonist is being subjected and from that moment on the only objective of the programme is to finally show the world just what a fine illusionist our protagonist really is. The performance is entitled, not surprisingly, La Gran Ilusión (The Great Illusion).
With this magic show, which is suitable for all ages, graduate in dramatic arts Antonio Díaz hopes to build on the success of previous productions.
