‘On colours, gestures and transformation’ by Andreas M. Kaufmann

La Virreina's latest releases

La Virreina Centre de la Imatge is opening exhibitions by Patricia Dauder, Andreas M. Kaufmann and Marcelo Expósito on 11 June.

On Friday, 11 June, the three new exhibitions that La Virreina Centre de la Imatge will hold during the summer season are opening. The first one is Ground and underground, a sample curated by Carles Guerra that features four works by artist Patricia Dauder (1972). These pieces were made after an action Dauder carried out in the summer of 2015: she buried a set of works in an empty plot in l'Hospitalet de Llobregat and left them underground for weeks. The four works in the exhibit present, in different formats, the results of this investigation. Another highlight is On colours, gestures and transformation by Andreas M. Kaufmann (1961). Commissioned by Valentín Roma, the exposition explores the role of technology in the construction of linguistic, sensory and ideological perceptions.

The last exhibition is New Babylon. Whether or not to describe a work as art is a tactical decision, the first complete retrospective into the artistic trajectory of Marcelo Expósito (1966). Commissioned by Cuauhtémoc Medina and Valentín Roma, this sample brings together the author's early published and video works, his research into the visual imaginaries of Franco's regime, his exploration of the grammars of social movements and various projects he has carried out specifically for the exhibition.

All three are free until 26 September within the centre's schedule. For more information, visit La Virreina's website.
