Laura Farré Rozada introduces ‘Nimbus’

Laura Farré Rozada interprets international composers

On September 16, the pianist and mathematician will introduce her second album, Nimbus, at the Palau de la Música Catalana.

Pianist, mathematician and researcher Laura Farré Rozada (Vilanova i la Geltrú, 1990) has released her second album, Nimbus, this year. The album has won the Grand Prix Crown of Stars to the best album of 2021 at the Music & Stars Awards, two silver medals at the Global Music Awards in La Jolla (California), and May 2021's Best Classical Album by The Akademia Music Awards in Los Angeles. Conceived as a follow-up to her debut album, The French Reviere (2018), Nimbus completes the tribute to composer Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992) and consists of works by international composers. However, the ultimate goal of the album is to disseminate the contemporary repertoire to the general public. On Thursday, September 16, Farré Rozada is offering a presentation of the album Nimbus at the Palau de la Música Catalana.

The programme includes highlights by French composers Maurice Ravel (Gaspard de la nuit) and Pierre Jodlowski (Sèrie Blanche); Japanese composers Tōru Takemitsu (Rain Tree sketch II, “In memoriam Olivier Messiaen”) and Dai Fujikura (Frozen Heat); South Korean Unsuk Chin (Etude n.5 and n.1); and Messiaen himself (Prélude n.8, "Un reflet dans le vent"). Besides, the repertoire includes works by composer Josep Maria Guix (Drizzle draft) and a commission by Farré Rozada to Chinese composer Yixuan Zhao (Still life, "Dedicated to Laura").

Taking place at 8pm in the Petit Palau, tickets are 15 euros and can be bought through here. For further information, visit the Palau de la Música website.
